Supreme Court begins live-streaming test for regular hearings across all benches

The Supreme Court has started testing live-streaming of regular hearings across all benches from Friday. The proceedings of all benches were streamed live in a test format.
The streaming was done on the top court’s own application instead of its official YouTube channel. Currently, only constitution bench matters and hearings of public importance are being live-streamed.
The success of the live-streaming of top court proceedings can be analysed by the fact that approximately 8 lakhs people viewed the proceedings on the first day when the live-streaming of constitution bench cases began.
Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, known for his embrace of technology, has introduced various tech-friendly changes to the top court.
The idea behind doing live-streaming is to bring in more transparency in the judicial process and common person should know and see how the court functions for clarity.
